There May Be Only Five Dodge Polara Station Wagons

A rare 1960 Dodge Polara Station Wagon is up for grabs through a Gooding & Company online auction and is estimated to sell for between $40,000 and $55,000.
The first-generation Dodge Polara was styled by famous designer Virgil Exner and featured the famous jet pod taillights that defined so many American cars back in the day. The Polara made use of a unibody construction and the Station Wagon variant is perhaps now the most valuable.
The listing reveals that only 1,768 Polara Station Wagon models were ever produced and, remarkably, claims that as few as five are still in existence. This particular example looks to have been well cared for and, at the time of writing, had attracted a highest bid of $26,000.
Adorning the exterior is a unique shade known as Cocoa Metallic, complemented by a Fawn-finished roof and a Cocoa interior. The vehicle also features a host of chrome parts, including the front and rear bumpers, the grille, roof rails, wing mirrors, and windshield surround. Making the Polara Station Wagon all the more intriguing is the fact that there are no B-pillars separating the first and second rows.
The car is being sold with a copy of the original Dodge build record and includes receipts for various parts as well as repairs and maintenance. No mention is made in the listing about how many miles are under the car’s belt, but based on the fact that it has been comprehensively restored, it’s safe to assume that it runs nicely. |
